In a now-deleted Instagram post, Vanessa Bryant pushed back on a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania that the DeMar DeRozan will be the “face” of the late Kobe Bryant’s signature shoe line with Nike.
“False,” Vanessa Bryant wrote Monday. “He is not the face of the Kobe line. No one is.”
Charania reported that DeRozan, a Chicago Bulls guard and a Compton, California native, will be signing a new four-year deal with Nike and will become the “face” of the Kobe’s signature line. In his report, Charania explained how DeRozan is famous for wearing both retro and unreleased Kobe sneakers.
Vanessa Bryant in a later Instagram comment explained further how she finds Charania’s report inaccurate.
“LOVES that he’s (DeRozan’s) a Kobe supporter but the caption is false,” Bryant wrote. “It’s misinformation. Only Kobe is the face of the line. If that changes in the future, then I’m sure Nike and I will release a statement announcing it.”
Fresh off making All-NBA second team, Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan is signing a new four-year deal with Nike that keeps him as the featured face of Kobe Bryant’s iconic line, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
